As the traditional boundaries between art and design disciplines blur, today’s creators are no longer defined by medium, but by story. Narrative is the heart of contemporary creative work.This idea shaped the catalogue we created for the HKU Media graduates.

The outcome

To make sense of these hybrid disciplines and the stories of 148 graduating media students, five overarching themes were developed. Each theme is introduced through an essay by an artist or designer whose practice aligns with its core values. Additionally, the creative processes of a select group of graduates are documented, offering insight into how different disciplines intersect and evolve.
